Nightworld is a record label based in Washington, DC. We represent artists who don't feel altogether comfortable walking along well-worn paths. If any DC influences show, we hope they are echoes of people like Link Wray, Marvin Gaye, Experience Unlimited, Rites of Spring, the Hangmen, the British Walkers, The Razz, and others who wrote the kind of stuff that never sounds dated.

Nightworld aspires to the resurrection of high fidelity; the kind that feels good instead of just looking pretty. Many of the songs you'll hear were recorded at our studio on one-inch 8-track audiotape. Signals hit via analogue circuits, and are only digitized (grudgingly) if they are going out on CD. The studio is the sort of place where The Sonics, Charlie Feathers, or Arthur Alexander could easily recreate their heaviest tracks.We believe in these particular ghosts.

The studio is run by songwriters. We do the recording, mixing, engineering, wiring, trouble-shooting, lightbulb replacement, coffee-making, and a million other mundane-to-monster-sized tasks. All of Nightworld's artists take their craft very seriously, and can often be found awake at all hours playing shows or hammering out new work. If they all have to wake up early in the morning it's a shame, but we think you'll agree that they do their best work after dark.

Daylight is useless to a songwriter. If some should seep through a crack in the fabric and stir things up a bit, it's probably unavoidable. But on the whole, its influence is best supressed.
